The Massachusetts Interfaith Call for Carbon Pricing is a project of Climate XChange directed by Reverend Fred Small. Over the course of several months, over 150 faith leaders in the Commonwealth signed onto the Call, and many of them went to the State House to advocate for a fee on carbon pollution.
People of faith are recognizing that climate change is fundamentally a moral issue, as it jeopardizes the health and wellbeing of much of the world’s population, and that a revenue-neutral carbon-fee-and-rebate is one of the most effective and just ways to reduce greenhouse gases. In the Fall of 2015 Climate XChange launched a ground-breaking raffle to raise money for carbon pricing. The grand prize was a brand new Tesla. The trick was that it was a “no pain” prize – we paid all of the taxes so that the winners did not have to.
Over the next few months, we sold over 1,700 tickets for the raffle. We drew the prizes (which included five additional prizes on top of the grand prize!) on January 1st, 2016. Overall the raffle was a huge success – find out more here.
