Thank You for Making our Largest Annual Tesla Raffle Yet a Success!

Last week, our 6th Annual Tesla Raffle came to a successful close, and we’d like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in this fundraiser. We sold all 5,000 available tickets, making this our most successful raffle yet! (You can watch our drawing livestream here.)

Whether or not you were one of our five lucky winners, your contribution goes towards making our critical work possible. We are only able to do what we do because of the generous support from our donors and those of you who entered the raffle. By entering to win an electric car or cash prize, you’re also helping us pass meaningful state-level climate policy. That’s why we consider this fundraiser a win-win!

Climate XChange is focused on achieving a just transition away from fossil fuels by passing effective state-level climate policy. It’s more important now than ever to take steps to mitigate the ongoing climate crisis. By supporting us, you are helping empower state and local policy makers, community advocates, and business leaders who are all seeking to protect the planet and the people living on it. We know there are a lot of worthy causes to support and we don’t take your contribution for granted.

Since last year’s raffle, we have strengthened connections in our State Climate Policy Network, developed practical tools for policy implementation, and brought together diverse coalitions of stakeholders in Maryland and Massachusetts.

We are passionate about growing collective knowledge in the climate space. By connecting legislators, researchers, advocates, and other state climate policy actors, we promote best practices in crafting effective and equitable climate policy. Last fall, we launched our State Climate Policy Dashboard, which is a growing project that tracks climate policy across all 50 states. This interactive tracker allows users to see which policies have been passed in their state and access resources and information on seven policy areas.

Last summer we published Investing in a Better Massachusetts, which was an analysis of job creation and community benefits from green investments. This report helps lawmakers make the case for climate policies by quantifying how much each policy will help, in terms of economic, job creation and health impacts.

We are also working in Massachusetts and Maryland on bills that will give direction to climate planning and ensure help is given to frontline communities that are most in need. Our teams are building diverse coalitions of stakeholders, collaborating with local lawmakers, and testifying in hearings to voice support for climate bills. We want to ensure that the communities most affected by climate change are put first and that polluters are held accountable for their actions.

The Massachusetts Green Future Now coalition is growing support for the Green Future Act, which will pay for the state’s climate plan and direct funding towards green infrastructure, workforce development, and aid to cities, towns, and individuals most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

The Rebuild Maryland Coalition is working on similar policy development by passing the Climate Crisis and Environmental Justice Act, the New Motor Vehicle High Pollution Fee bill, and the Better Together to Save Our Weather Act of 2022. These laws will put a price on pollution and use the funds to invest in resilient infrastructure and protect people and businesses from financial harm during a just transition away from fossil fuels.

Your support for our Tesla Raffle not only gives you the opportunity to win a luxury electric vehicle or cash prize, but also to participate in the global effort to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. You have helped enable us to fight for policy solutions that both reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pave the way for a more sustainable future built on renewable energy, green jobs, and more resilient communities.

We are glad to welcome you to a network of people who are passionate about helping those currently in need and ensuring a healthy future for all who come after us.

Forever grateful for your support,

Peter Kirby

Acting Executive Director
